80-85 days. NON-GMO, OPEN POLLINATED, HEIRLOOM

The original 8-Row Golden Bantam corn variety was developed to be earlier and sweeter than other types of corn, and became well known for its vibrant, golden color. The stalks provide five-six-inch long ears and can tolerate dry temperatures. Equally suited for freezing and fresh eating.

This open-pollinated variety was bred in the 1890's by William Chambers and introduced by W. Altee Burpee in 1902. Its small 5" ears were originally selected to fit neatly into a side plate at the roadside inns   to which Chambers sold his produce.

Upon introduction by Burpee, Golden Bantam skyrocketed in popularity, earning a place for "sugar" corn on the American dinner table. It remained the most popular variety for nearly 30 years and is still grown widely today!

Compact 5' plants consistently produce two ears. Stalks and ears can attain a larger size upon very favorable growing conditions, can you meet the challenge?

Not as sweet as the super sugary hybrids of today, but still very delicious and easy to grow.
