Developed by Issacc Hershey (and family). Hershey was a Mennonite elder in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and set about creating the perfect corn for his needs. By 1910 he stopped mixing superior corns together and began selecting for early maturity, disease resistance, yield, large ears and stability. Thus, Lancaster Sure Crop was born. Lancaster is so amazing, that many of today's corn-belt hybrids can trace at least one parent back to this corn, it's that good!
This variety was bred for early maturity, large ears, high yields and stability in a wide variety of growing conditions. It is also especially drought-tolerant and can be grown in areas where irrigation may be limited. Great in the Southwest.
